Golf Fundamental 1 for beginners- Alignment

Golf Alignment for Beginners

Importance of Golf Swing Alignment

Alignment ensures your body and club face are positioned correctly in relation to the target line (line from the ball to the target).

Clubface Aiming

Aligning your clubface correctly at impact is crucial to ensure that your shot travels in the desired direction.   (Review Video below for more detail)

Freedom of Movement

Correct alignment allows freedom of movement through the differing stages of the swing.

Reduced Distance

An incorrect alignment will cause a miss hit or curved ball flight that reduces distance.

Railway Track Alignment Principle for Golf Swing Alignment

Basic Principles of a Proper Golf Swing Alignment

The Target Line

The target line is an imaginary line drawn from the ball to the intended target. (Flag stick or fairway landing spot)

Club Face & Shaft Alignment with the Target Line

The club face should be square (perpendicular) with the target line.

The club shaft should also be perpendicular the target line to ensure the correct club face loft.

Body Alignment

Feet, knees hips and shoulders should be parallel with the target line.

Imaginary Railway Track

Imagine a “railway track” directed at the target:

-On one side is the track from the club and ball to the target.

-On the other side is the track of the parallel body positions to a point left of the target

Fundamental 1 - Alignment

This video shows you how to correctly align yourself to the target using the "railway track" system
