Each of the downswing elements play a critical role in delivering a powerful, accurate, and consistent golf shot. Here’s why they matter:
Weight shift toward the target ensures your low point is in front of the ball, helping you strike the ball before the ground. Without it, you risk fat or thin shots.
Lead hip rotation creates space and clears the way for your arms to swing through. It also helps release the torque, which translates into clubhead speed and distance.
Trail elbow keeps the club on correct swing path.
Maintain wrist hinge (lag) it releases energy at the appropriate stage of the downswing.

Swing Tension:
Ensure your shoulders, arms and hands are relaxed at the top of the swing.
Downswing starts from the ground up:
Begins with a subtle weight shift from the instep of the trail ankle to the ball of lead foot.
Followed by the lower body turn, not the hands or arms.
Hip Rotation
Rotate the hip focusing on trail side turn Critical for generating power and balance

Upper body stays back briefly:
The shoulders and arms are delayed naturally as the lower body shifts weight to the lead foot.
Wrists Angle Lag:
The wrist hinge angle must be maintained by not tightening your grip tension.
Complete transition stages before releasing your hands.
Right Elbow Position
On the downswing, keep the trail elbow close to your trail-side trunk

"Casting"
The shoulders are turning ahead of the hips.
Hand position is releasing too early.
Cause
Initiate the downswing by a shoulder turn.
Trail elbow straightens.
Trail hand starts releasing the hinges.
Trail arm is above the lead arm which cause the path of the club to come across the golf ball (Over the Top)

Clubhead Release
Start the club head release after the hip turn.
Club Face Movement
Open at the hip to closing in the square position at contact with the ball, then closed at hip height on the follow through.
Arm Structure
Maintain the arm structure to hip height after contact.

Weight shift
Hip rotation
Hand release

Follow Through
Lead foot is in the open position from the setup.
Belt buckle and chest are pointing down the feet line.
Arms fold naturally from hip height to the top of the swing.
This Golf Fundamental covers the sequence of body movements for a successful golf downswing.
