Golf Fundamental 2 for beginners - The Grip

Golf Grip for Beginners

Impact of the Grip on the Golf Swing

Impact on Swing Mechanics

A proper grip directly influences swing mechanics, allowing for a smoother and more controlled swing.

Clubface Control

The grip affects clubface control, which is essential for achieving desired shot direction and accuracy.

Consistency in Results

Without a correct grip, golfers may experience inconsistent results, regardless of their swing technique.

Left Hand Golf Grip

Steps (described below for right handers, opposite hands sequence for left handers)

1. Find the centerline of the golf club grip with fingers straight pointing towards you, the end of the grip should be positioned roughly 1 inch beyond the palm of your hand.

2. The club grip should be placed at the base of your fingers, wrap your fingers around the grip, and position the club so that you can hold the club with your last 3 fingers leaving your index finger free for the interlock grip with trail hand/right.

3. Position your thumb on the centerline of the grip.

Right Hand Golf Grip

 1. With your finger pointing straight towards your legs, position your hand below the left hand on the grip .

2. Place your index finger around the grip like you are pulling the trigger of a gun so the top pad of your index finger is at the side of the grip and your thumb is placed left of the club center line.

3. Bring your right hand as close to the left hand as possible.4. Gently Interlock your left-hand index finger with your right-hand pinky.

Golf Grip Check

1. As you look down at your hand positions, you should see a “V” created your left hand index finger and thumb, and likewise a “V” created by your right hand thumb and index finger.

2. To ensure the positioning of your hands is correct on the grip both of those “v”s should be pointing at your right shoulder.
