Welcome to the first lesson of our free course for beginners!
Before you can execute any lessons you will need the basic equipment, being a golf club and balls.
If you have already done some research on what to purchase you no doubt will have found there are many options for golf equipment…and believe me, many are not cheap!
At this stage of your golf journey we are not recommending you go out and buy a $900-$1300 set of irons on top of another $300-$400+ for drivers!
That is just too big a commitment for two reasons:
1. You should complete our course first to see if you want to continue learning the game before making any big purchases on expensive equipment. At least by that time you will be better informed.
2. Your lack of knowledge of the game may cause you to be oversold on equipment by golf sales people whose main incentive is to make as much money out of you as possible.
You can obviously start your lesson journey going to a driving range in your local area. This costs money and you will be around other golfers of all abilities hitting balls.
To some this may be a little intimidating and you may end up feeling more embarrassed by your duff shots and less focused on the lessons.
If you have a back yard or space in your garage that allows you to swing a club, we recommend setting up a small practice mat and net to get you swinging. This allows you to practice conveniently at any time you want, for as long as you want. It also allows you to easily access your computer to review the lesson material.
We recommend the following set up that can be purchased on Amazon for less than the cost of a few trips to the range.

Before investing in a set of clubs, you only need a single golf club to execute our lessons if cost is a factor for you. We recommend looking first for a used 7 iron or a 6 iron.
Friends & Relatives: If any of your friends or relatives play golf, I can almost guarantee there is an old set of clubs lying in their attic or the garage that they will be willing to give you.
Good Will: Take a wonder around your local Good Will store, often you will find discarded sets of golf clubs for very low prices. It does not matter about their condition.
Ebay for used clubs: It is also possible to pick up a used 7 iron on Ebay for less than $60.
This is also where you will find the best deals for used club sets which can be picked up for less than $250.
Golf Avenue for used clubs: This a great company who specialize in buying and selling used golf clubs of many of the top name brands. The prices are higher than you can expect on Ebay, but you can obtain a great set of irons for less than $350.

Franks Shanks and Ebay are recommended sources for used balls in good condition. At this stage in your game the brand is not important. Get balls at the best price.
www.franksshanks.com You can get 12 balls for less than $20
